Rule Manager

Use this command to create a rule set in the flowsheet. User can create multiple rule sets. While using the conditional formatting feature, only the active rule set is considered. All the rule sets and the associated rules are specific to the current simulation. The rules are saved in the backup.sfd file and stored in the prz file. This command provides an Export/Import functionality to re-use the rules defined in one simulation to another in xml format.

 

Usage

To create a rule set:

  1. Select the Rule Manager item from the Tools menu to display the DEW.(Another path to this feature is the Display Rule Manager command on the Output toolbar.)

  2. Click the New icon on the left pane and enter a desired name for the rule.

  3. Click the New rule toolbar to create a rule. The rule consists of five attributes, namely: Rule number, State, Condition, Format, and Comments. Rule number is the sequence number of the rule created. The attribute State displays ON/OFF. The rules that are turned ON are evaluated. Users can create multiple rules in a given rule set. The rule number determines the order of precedence.

  4. Click the Condition cell to specify the condition. A pop-up appears to accept the inputs provided.

The  pop-up consists of the following fields:

 For example, to specify a condition as Temperature>100 F. Enter the data as shown below

 

 

Note: The conditional formatting feature supports the properties in the table listed below.

  1. Click the Format cell to specify the format. A pop-up appears as shown below. Select the appropriate Color, Style and Width of the stream that applies to the rule. The Preview field provides the width and style of the stream. Click OK to confirm change

  1. Click OK to save the rule.
